Shipyard Park Hits It Out of the Park!

Located on the Wando River in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, America’s favorite pastime has hit a home run with Shipyard Park!  Covering over 20 acres, Shipyard Park is the only waterfront baseball complex in all of the Southeast!  This premier location encompasses 3 youth fields and 2 highschool / collegiate sized fields, all AstroTurf, with stadium seating and premier facilities for spectators.
Originally, this land began as a U.S. Navy Shipyard, later becoming Detyen’s Shipyards, which eventually closed in 2006. Built by Harbor Contracting, owned by Detyen’s Shipyard, this facility was eagerly welcomed by the local community as a place for youth and families to gather as well as bring in additional economic dollars generated by travelers participating in large, weekly tournaments in this location.
Construction began in 2017 with the owners professing a goal of creating a “Disneyland of baseball!” Google reviews consistently affirm the achievement of this goal - citing the cleanliness of the entire facility and friendliness of staff!
Because of the unique venue and impeccable facility, Shipyard Park hosts tournaments from multiple tournament organizations year round, pulling premier talent together for the highest level of competition and camaraderie.  Tournament participation is in such demand at this location that the majority of tournaments operate on waitlist only models.  The AstroTurf fields have been designed with baseball in mind- to feature true bounces and the natural speed of the game.  From a field maintenance point of view - AstroTurf recovers quickly from weather and is less susceptible to normal field wear and tear.

Shipyard Park offers training beyond field play with their over 17,000 square foot, climate-controlled training facility.  This facility boasts retractable batting cages and an infield with 2 levels of viewing areas.  Lessons, camps, and clinics are hosted on site by Shipyard Park as well as private training for both baseball and softball with top-notch instructors.

One particular favorite of families visiting for tournaments is the on-site, nautical themed playground with built-in water misters and shaded seating for supervising parents!  Just in time for the Charleston summer heat!
Another convenient benefit of the park is the breadth and quality of food and beverage offerings.  Beyond basic hotdogs- restaurants such as Swig and Swine offer barbecue and all the trimmings and Zano’s Italian Ice is always a fan favorite!

For family members who might not be able to attend their loved ones’ tournament in person, Shipyard Park has partnered with HiCast Sports to facilitate live and on demand streaming of games.  By downloading an app, onlookers from afar can watch the entire game and save key moments! They can share those moments and even share them to their social media accounts.
In addition to hosting tournaments and league baseball, Shipyard Park also hosts concert series, weddings, private parties, corporate events, and even birthday parties!
